Buhari: Allegation of underperformance, a lie that must be dismissed — Group

By Giwa SHILE

A group, Buhari Achievement Awareness Forum, says allegation  of underperformance of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government by opposition political parties is “a lie” that must be dismissed.

The group’s national coordinator, Alhaji Bashir Bale, said this on Saturday in Suleja, at the lunch of the Buhari Achievement Awareness Forum.

Bale said that the forum was poised to change the narrative through massive sensitisation tour especially of the grassroots.

He said that the forum was formed to create awareness on the achievements of the Buhari-led administration, particularly at the grassroots, where the people were mostly kept in the dark.

He noted that unlike those in the cities, people in the grassroots were usually not abreast with the achievements and policies of the Buhari-led administration.

The national coordinator identified lack of access to newspapers, television and other information platforms as the reason those at the grassroots were not up to date on the president’s achievements.

“We take this as a responsibility to disseminate and sensitise the people, especially those at the grassroots, to the achievements of President Buhari from inception.

“We will use the opportunity to debunk allegations of those who said they  left the All Progressives Congress (APC) because President Buhari has under-performed.

“This is just a fabricated lie, because Buhari has performed beyond expectation in all sectors of the economy.

“By the grace of God, we will reach out to all nooks and crannies of this country to sensitise people and create awareness on the achievements of President Buhari.

“ It is our belief that Buhari has performed more than expected despite obvious challenges,“ Bale said.

He said the forum had so far identified 5,000 viable people-oriented projects of the Buhari administration which it would be showcasing to the people during the tour, using pamphlets and other instruments.

He said the pamphlets had been printed in the nation’s three major languages of Igbo, Yuruba and Hausa and in pidgin English for better understanding.

The national coordinator further said that the forum would also embark on a door-to-door sensitisation campaign for those who might not be able to read or write.

He added that the tour was being funded through voluntary contributions from members of the forum.

He said that the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic (PDP) was not a threat to President Buhari`s re-election bid.

According to him, President Buhari`s works and development strides are there to speak for him and will ensure his electoral victory in 2019.
