Traditional boxing league postponed till after NSF

By Giwa SHILE

The Secretary, Nigeria Traditional Boxing Premier League, Ahmed Jada, on Wednesday in Abuja said the third edition of the league has been postponed till after the National Sports Festival (NSF).

Jada said that the league was being moved till later because of lack of adequate funds.

“We need the support of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to  sponsor  Dambe, the traditional boxing sport.

“We were only able to struggle to get the makers of Coca Cola drink to support us in one of our competitions last year.

“Due to our passion for the game, we will now have to use our personal resources to run the league.

“The only source of our money will be from the tickets we will sell to our spectators.

“We really need to have some support from private companies and governments,’’ he said.

The 19th edition for the National Sports Festival is billed to hold at the Abuja National Stadium.
