Outage: BEDC to reconnect Ekiti communities

By Thompson ABISOLA

The Ekiti Government on Tuesday received assurances from the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) that power supply would be restored by December to some towns that had been without power supply for years.

Those to be reconnected in the first batch are  Ikogosi-Ekiti, Erijiyan- Ekiti and Ipole-Iloro Ekiti.

A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Olayinka Oyebode,  said BEDC’s  Chief Executive, Mrs Funke Osibodu, gave the assurance in Ado-Ekiti at a meeting with Gov. Kayode Fayemi.

She said the three communities would have their power supply restored on or before Dec. 15.

The meeting,  which also had in attendance top officials of the Ekiti State Electricity Board, was called to work out an arrangement for improved power supply across the
state.

Oyebode also said the government was working on an arrangement with BEDC for a more efficient power supply to enable it power the streetlights across the state.

He stated that with the new arrangement, street lights would now be on for at least  10 hours a day
