EEDC celebrates Easter with 10 motherless babies, old peoples’ homes in South-East

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has reached out with food, beverages toiletries and other items to 10 selected motherless babies and old peoples’ homes in South-East during this Easter period.

The Head of Communications in EEDC, Mr Emeka Ezeh, made the disclosure on Sunday, in Enugu.

Ezeh said that two motherless babies and old peoples’ homes were selected in each of the five states in the South-East which was the coverage area of the company.

He noted that EEDC’s visit and reach-out to the motherless babies and old peoples’ home happened simultaneously at the selected locations across the South East.

“The initiative by EEDC is the organisation’s way of giving back to the society and remembering the less privileged and down trodden in our midst.

“The selected motherless babies and old people’s homes were presented with range of food, beverages and toiletries among others,’’ he said in a statement.

He said that over the weekend, some representatives of EEDC in Enugu, led by him (Ezeh), were at the Guardian Angel Motherless Babies Home, New Haven Extension, Enugu and Rehabilitation Centre, Emene, Enugu, to present the gift items.

He also said that in her appreciation, the matron of Guardian Angel Motherless Babies Home, Rev. Sister Agnes Ibewuike, commended EEDC for remembering them and making out time to visit them, especially during the Easter period.

“I pray God to reward the effort of the company. Thank you and God bless you for supporting us and celebrating Easter with us,’’ Ezeh quoted Ibewuike as saying.

The EEDC spokesman added that the Principal of Rehabilitation Centre, Emene, Enugu, Mr Anthony Agu, appreciated the effort by EEDC in deeming it fit to visit them.

He noted that Agu used the opportunity to appeal to other corporate bodies and well meaning Nigerians to emulate the gesture by EEDC.

“We are very happy that EEDC in their corporate responsibility has remembered an institution like ours, they will continue to grow from strength to strength,’’ Ezeh quoted Agu as saying.

The EEDC spokesman, however, wished the company’s customers a Happy Easter holiday as they commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

TBI Africa.com said NAN reports that the company had in the past engaged in initiatives aimed at empowering and enhancing the lives of the people, especially youths.

This includes the distribution of books and other educational materials worth millions of Naira to secondary and tertiary institutions within the South-East, in partnership with Sir Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF).
