Group to conduct referendum on Oduduwa Federation August 8

A political organisation, Egbe Omo Oduduwa, has said it would conduct a referendum in the South West zone of the country on August 8 with a view to federating Ekiti, Osun, Ondo, Oyo, Ogun and Lagos States into forming the Oduduwa Region of Western Nigeria.

The group said in response to the numerous crises in the country and the inability of the “centralized security apparatus of the Nigerian state” to provide a safe environment for decent human existence all over the country, especially in Yorubaland.

The organisation in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday and signed by ShengeRahmanAkanbi and Femi Odedeyi, stated that the inability of the Nigerian State to protect her citizens must be seen for what it really signals which it termed “the unworkability of Unitarian in a multiethnic amalgam.”

The organisation stated that rather than making recourse to lamentation and or a dash for armed activities in the name of self-defence, it is proposing a systematic programme of actions and activities.

According to EgbeOmoOduduwa, the first of the political actions it is putting forward is the Referendum Bill.
