Tinubu leaves Saint Lucia for Brazil

President Bola Tinubu has departed Saint Lucia for Brazil for the second leg of his two-nation tour.

In Rio de Janeiro, Tinubu will attend the 2025 BRICS Summit, held July 6-7, 2025.

The President departed the Caribbean country after a six-day state visit which began on June 28, 2025.

Prime Minister Philip Pierre saw off the Nigerian leader at the Lucian International airport in Hewanorra.

During the state visit, President Tinubu had separate meetings with the Saint Lucian leaders, Governor General Cyril Charles and Prime Minister Pierre.

On Monday, he addressed a special joint session of the Senate and the House of Assembly in Sandals Grande.

The visit saw Nigeria and Saint Lucia formalise diplomatic relations and consequently, the signing of a Technical Manpower Assistance agreement for deploying skilled Nigerian professionals to the Caribbean state.

In Rio De Janeiro, President Tinubu is one of the four African leaders attending the 17th BRICS summit.

Leaders from Egypt, Ethiopia and South Africa are also expected at the summit.
