Group calls for amendment of Electoral Act

The Forum of Chairmen of Nigeria Political Parties has called for the amendment of the Electoral Act and introduction of electronic transmission of election results from polling units.

Mr Kenneth Udeze, who spoke on behalf of the group, made the call on Monday in Abuja during the review of the roles of key stakeholders in the Nov. 16 Kogi and Bayelsa elections.

Udeze said that there was an urgent need for the conclusion of the process of the amendment of the electoral act and for the inclusion of electronic transmission of results from polling units during elections.

According to him, this will ensure that magical and humongous figures are not generated.

“The results of elections and electronic accreditation figures should be made transmittable directly to a central database to ensure that magical and humongous figures are not generated,” he said.
