Ijegun- Alakija Leakage: NNPC deploys maintenance teams to site

The management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has deployed maintenance teams to the affected  Ijegun- Alakija, Atlas Cove- Mosinmi pipeline leakage area.

According to the NNPC source, Messrs.Oilserv Limited has deployed two maintenance teams to site this morning  but manual excavation could not be achieved due to the swampy nature of the terrain. Hence a swamp buggy is being arranged by

Messrs.Oilser Limited  to ensure thorough excavation and repair.

The source said: meanwhile, we have activated all the security and Safety logistics to remain on site, this include HSE from Satellite Depot and the HSE and PROW team from Mosimi Area office are already on their way to Lagos with Gully sucker, slurry  pump and other relevant/necessary materials.

” We are equally getting mutual support from  the NSCDC Lagos State Command , Navy and Operations Awatse, Lagos State Fire Service and LASEMA.

“The area have properly cordoned off to prevent  hoodlums from the surrounding community  gaining access to the area.

The Pipeline remains shutdown until the repair is completed.

It would be recalled  that Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, DG/CEO LASEMA on March 27 raised alarm over the alart of major pipelines leakage around Alhaji Moriamo street, Satellite town that was received.

According to  Osanyintolu,  “We received an alert about the above captioned scene and upon arrival, it was discovered that an NNPC pipeline along the axis at Ojukwu street, Navy Town was leaking.

“We contacted the NNPC who dispatched a repair team to the location. The agency and other first responders intend to remain on high alert until the repairs being carried out by the NNPC are fully completed.

“Members of the public are cautioned to proceed with extreme caution in and around the area to prevent any form of explosion or ignition from naked flame or other activity.
