South -East Governors To Meet NNPC GMD Over Plan To Link State Capitals To Gas Pipeline

The South- East state governors, in a move to rejig their respective states’ economies,  will meet the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) , Mele Kyari and other economic stakeholders.

The governors disclosed this at the end of their  forum meeting on Sunday, at the Government House, Enugu.

They agreed to meet Kyari on the issue of linking South -East state capitals to the  gas pipeline.

According to a statement by the forum,the  action plan is in line with the pipeline programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria, which runs from Imo to Lagos State.

During the meeting, the  forum members agreed to set up committees in various states to work with  the FG, World Bank, Central Bank of Nigeria and Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority(NSIA) in their various programmes lined up to rejig their economies, especially in areas of  Agriculture, SME and solid minerals.

Recall that the outbreak of coronavirus in Nigeria has caused a great dip in the country’s economy and economic activities have been put on hold to contain the virus.

Also, to protect the citizens from Coronavirus,  the forum agreed to further engage the NCDC to scale up testing  in the South-East states.
