10 arrested for attacking Lagos task force officials, 96 motorcycles seized

Ten persons have been arrested for attacking the men of Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and Sanitation (Enforcement) Unit during an enforcement of the state’s traffic laws on Tuesday.

The suspects were reportedly arrested during the commotion that broke out in Ojodu and Obanikoro areas while the task force men were carrying out the enforcement in different areas of the state.

A statement on Tuesday added that no fewer than 96 commercial motorcycles operating on highways and other restricted routes were impounded, adding that four motorists driving against the traffic were arrested.

“Some hoodlums teamed up with motorcycle riders around Ojodu Grammar School to resist the move by the task force to take away the motorcycles seized during the enforcement.

“As the hoodlums, armed with iron rods and broken bottles, approached, the policemen, led by the task force chairman, SP Shola Jejeloye, repelled the attack.

“Also at Obanikoro, the motorcycle riders, on sighting the enforcement team, pelted the task force officers with stones. The policemen arrested four persons. One person was arrested in Ojota,” the statement reads partly.
