Amnesty probes staff involvement in contractors, vendors’ fraud

The Presidential Amnesty Programme has begun investigation of fraud perpetrated by some vendors and contractors to determine its spread and extent of involvement or connivance with staff.

The organisation said while the investigation remained ongoing, it would not stop the payment of those whose contracts and documents had been verified and reconciled as soon as the expected funds were released.

The Interim Administrator of PAP, Col. Milland Dikio (retd.), disclosed these in a statement by his Special Assistant (Media), Nneotaobase Egbe, obtained by journalists in Abuja on Sunday.

The statement reads, “The Presidential Amnesty Programme has uncovered unsavory acts of fraud perpetrated by some vendors/contractors. The office is currently investigating these activities to determine how widespread and the extent of involvement or connivance with internal elements within the programme.

“While this investigation is ongoing, it will not stop the payment of those whose contracts and documents have been verified and reconciled as soon as the expected funds are released.
