Manufacturing industries across the country are losing 30 per cent of their financial income to unsteady power supply.
An industrialist, Chief Cosmas Ugwu, who disclosed this in his welcome address at the inauguration of his Gombe State factory, said the overbearing multiple effect of unsteady power supply has not only forced companies to fold up, “even the existing ones are almost at the verge of collapse.”
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hara Foam and chemicals said the end users are bearing the brunt, explaining that at the end, “we are always left with no choice than to factor in the cost of endless use of alternative power into the prices of goods.”
He, however, pleaded with the Federal Government to declare state of emergency on power towards lifting burdens on the citizenry.
Ugwu, who took a swipe at secessionists, described the campaigners as jobless and unfortunate.
“To me, those calling for the collapse of Nigeria are jobless and unfortunate that must be redeemed,” urging the agitators to divert their strength to the call for better Nigeria.
