Kwara gunmen abduct bride, demand N50m ransom

Gunmen on Wednesday invaded the home of a newly-wed couple at Oniyangi, Emir Road, Ilorin, in the Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.
City Round gathered that while the man, identified simply as Mr Musa, escaped through the backyard of the building, his wife, Rukkayat, was not so lucky as she was abducted.
Our correspondent learnt that the kidnappers later got in contact with the family and demanded a ransom of N50m for the woman.
A relative of the victim, who did not want his name in print, said the couple got married about three months ago.
“The kidnappers have got in contact with the family and demanded N50m, which they said should be paid before the weekend.
“The family has no such money and that is why we are appealing to philanthropists and members of the public to assist us so that the kidnappers will not kill our daughter”, he added.
The relative said the incident was reported to the police at the Oja Oba Station, Ilorin, on Thursday.
When contacted on Friday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, said he was not aware of the abduction.

“I have not heard of the incident; maybe the case was not reported to any of the police stations around,” he added.
