Hajj: Lagos set to inoculate intending pilgrims

The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has concluded arrangement with the Federal Ministry of Health (Port Health Services) to inoculate all its intending pilgrims that will be participating in this year’s Holy pilgrimage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Commissioner for Home Affairs Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju  Elegushi said this after a review of the just concluded and successful medical screening for all the intending pilgrims.

The Commissioner, in a statement by the Board’s Secretary, Hakeem Kosoko, said that the inoculation exercise is a critical medical exercise that must be fulfilled by the intending pilgrims before embarking on the journey.

Elegushi stressed that each of the intending pilgrims would be administered with the Yellow fever, Oral polio as well as the Menegites vaccines in line with the requirements for international travels and to protect them against any contagious diseases.

According to him, the exercise that commenced yesterday, will end on Thursday at the Shamsi Adisa Thomas (SAT) Mosque Hall, Ikeja GRA.

He urged all of them to ensure that they attend the exercise because of its importance and benefits, as scheduled by the Board on Local Government basis.

Elegushi also reiterated the importance of the COVID-19 Booster jab. He said that it is compulsory for every intending pilgrim to get the complete doses of the coronavirus vaccination and ensure that they are well captured in the computer, saying that any intending pilgrim without the complete doses would be denied entry into the Kingdom.
