NiMet forecasts moderate dust haze, others in northern Nigeria, advises individuals; airlines

Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has asked nine(9) states in the North to expect moderate dust haze in the next 24 hours while other northern states will report hazy conditions that will persist for three days.

According to NiMet parts of Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Yobe, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Borno will experience moderate dust haze which grants horizontal visibility of 2000m to 5000m.

NiMet revealed,”In the next 24 hours, there are prospects of moderate dust haze (horizontal visibility of 2000m to 5000m) over parts of Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Yobe, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Borno; while other northern states are expected to report hazy conditions in relatively good horizontal visibility.

This weather condition is expected to persist for the next 3 days.”The Night-Time Temperature (Min) is expected to fall as a result of plume of dust coming into the country.

“The weather forecast agency advised members of the public to take necessary precautions due to dust particles presently in suspension over the atmosphere.

It said,”Individuals with respiratory ailments are advised to protect themselves as the current weather condition is not good for their health.

“Night-time cold temperatures should be expected so warm clothes are advised for little children.

“Airline operators are advised to avail themselves to weather reports from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.”
