Police raid suspected cultists’ camps in Rivers

Operatives of the River State Police Command have raided three camps operated by suspected cult leaders in Ebrass and Owube communities in Ahoada-West local government area as well as Odiemude community in Ahoada-East local government area of the state.
The raid, which involved operatives from Ahoada Police Division in Ahoada-East local government area and Akinima Police Division in Ahoada-West local government area, was led by the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Ahoada, Bako Agbasim.Briefing journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday, the commissioner of police, Nwonyi Emeka, said the three camps were operated by ‘General’ Danger, ‘General’ 2baba and ‘General’ Odiereke.
Emeka said the three ‘generals’ could not be arrested as they escaped across the rivers upon sighting the policemen, adding the investigation is still going on.
He said: “Operatives of Ahoada/Akinima Division, on Thursday, 29/6/2023 at about 1000hrs invaded some cultists camps led by General Danger ‘M’ in Ebrass Community, Ahoada West. General 2baba ‘M’ at Odiemude community in Ahoada East, General Odiereke ‘M’ in Owube Community in Ahoada West local government area. However, the three Generals escaped across the river. The operation was led by the DPO Ahoada Division in company of the Nigerian Army. Investigation is ongoing.”
The commissioner of police said operatives of the Rumuji Police Division and members of Emohua Vigilante Service (EMOVIS), acting on a tip-off combed a forest near Choba Rivers along the East-West Road in Emohua local government area of the state and rescue a female kidnap victim, who was kidnapped along the road on June 26, 2023 and dumped in the forest by her abductors.
