The pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has expressed gratitude to God for the life of its leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, who clocks 98 today (Saturday).
Various activities were lined up to commemorate the birthday including church services and social events.
This was disclosed in a release made available to Saturday PUNCH and signed by the organisation’s National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi.
The body stated that Pa Fasoranti’s life “is a study in geniality, intellectualism, team-playing, philanthropy, communality, religiosity, and humanness,” adding that he is “an embodiment of the Omoluabi ethos that sums up the characteristics of a man of impeccable integrity.”
It read partly, “The record of his years in the public service is unblemished. His activities during and after retirement have always been geared towards the enhancement of the situation around him.
“Besides providing succour where needed, he is also a motivator. These attributes have not only endeared him to many, but they also depict him as a person who inspires.”
Afenifere added that Fasoranti was also exemplary in how to cope with fortitude despite some challenges he has faced in life.
“His conduct since he chose to tread on the noble path charted by the Sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, ultimately elevated him to the pedestal of a statesman.
“While rejoicing that our leader attains a ripe old age, Afenifere prays for many more years, possibly decades, for him. Years to be lived in good health, peace of mind, and contentment,” the statement added.
The statement also urged young ones to emulate the attributes and the lifestyle of the nonagenarian.
