Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, on Tuesday, suspended three commissioners due to their absenteeism from official duties.

The suspended commissioners are Solomon Azi (Grants and Donor Agencies), Victor Chukwu (Environment), and Ikeuwa Omebe (Rural Development).

They were each suspended for one month after failing to attend the State Executive Council meeting on Monday without prior permission.

The Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpor, announced the suspensions during a briefing on the outcomes of the executive council meeting.

He emphasised that the governor had issued a strong warning against absenteeism and a lackadaisical attitude towards work among public servants.

Okpor also stated that, during the suspension, the affected commissioners would be stripped of all the privileges associated with their offices.

In addition, the governor directed all contractors handling government projects in the state to accelerate their work in line with contractual agreements.

He cautioned that the government would not hesitate to use all legal measures to ensure compliance.
