Tinubu writes Senate, seeks confirmation of new service chiefs

President Bola Tinubu has requested the Senate to screen and confirm the recently appointed service chiefs.

The request was contained in a letter read on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

According to the letter, the nominees are: Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Waheedi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke; and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye.

Following the reading of the letter, Akpabio directed that the nominees be referred to the Committee of the Whole for screening and confirmation next week.

The President had on Monday met behind closed doors with the newly appointed service chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
