The Sokoto State Government has commended security agencies for recording fresh successes in the fight against banditry across the state, while mourning five security personnel who lost their lives in separate operations.
The Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Ahmed Aliyu, retired Col. Ahmed Usman, said recent operations by the military, police and other security agencies had dealt significant blows to criminal groups, leading to the rescue of kidnapped victims and the neutralisation of several bandits.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Usman described the achievements as a reflection of the courage, resilience and commitment of security operatives working to restore peace in troubled communities.
“The recent operational successes recorded by our security agencies are encouraging and demonstrate their unwavering determination to protect lives and secure our communities,” he said.
He urged security agencies to sustain the momentum and intensify ongoing offensives against criminal elements threatening peace and stability in the state.
The security adviser, however, noted that the gains came at a painful cost, expressing sadness over the deaths of three soldiers who were killed after their operational vehicle struck an Improvised Explosive Device along the Isa–Bargaja axis.
He also condoled with the Nigeria Police Force over the killing of two officers in a bandits’ ambush in Tureta Local Government Area.
“These brave men made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their fatherland. Their dedication, patriotism and courage will remain a source of inspiration, and their sacrifices will never be forgotten,” Usman stated.
He extended condolences to the bereaved families, the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force, praying for the repose of the fallen personnel and strength for those they left behind.
The tribute comes as security forces continue coordinated operations across Sokoto and other parts of the North-West, where authorities have intensified efforts to dismantle bandit camps, rescue kidnapped victims and restore security in vulnerable communities.
