Motorists in Kaduna metropolis have expressed the hope that there will be no fuel scarcity during the yuletide, following the availability of the products in all filling stations.
The motorists, who spoke in Kaduna on Thursday, urged the Federal Government to do the needful to avoid the recurrent fuel scarcity every end of the year.
Malam Isa Rigachikun, a motorist, noted that fuel scarcity not only affected the prices of fuel but also affected the prices of goods and services and hardship experienced by the poor.
“We spend two to three days and sometime weeks queuing at filling stations whenever there is scarcity, especially in December of every year.
“At the end of the day, instead of buying fuel, we spend the money in feeding ourselves while on the queue because of the long wait.
“If it eventually gets to our turn, we end up buying just five or 10 litres of fuel. It is a terrible experience that we do not want to have again.
“We are hopeful that there might be a change this year,’’ Rigachikun said.
Another motorist, Malam Misbahu Muhammad, said: “I will be grateful if the scarcity is averted this year to break the vicious cycle of annual fuel scarcity and the hardship it comes with.
“Driving, my only source of livelihood, depend on availability of fuel. Meaning that life will be meaningless to me if the product is not available, even for a day.
“I am happy that there is no queue and I pray there will be none so that we will go on with our normal lives; driving around and making money to feed our families.”
On his part, Muhammad Aminu, also a motorist, was optimistic that President Muhammadu Buhari would do all he could to avert fuel scarcity this year.
“I trust Buhari. He is a man of integrity and cares for the poor.
“I am confident that he is on top of the situation and there will be no scarcity of fuel this year,’’ Aminu said.
Mrs Stephanie Maduka, a resident, noted that fuel scarcity affected the prices of fuel and caused inflation, leaving the masses at the receiving end.
