The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) says it has supplied 172 trucks of Premium Motor Spirits (PMS) to Sokoto and Kebbi states from Monday to Friday.
The Zonal Operation Controller of DPR in charge of Sokoto and Kebbi states Mr Muhammad Makera, told the newsmen on Friday in Sokoto.
He said that 30 and 34 trucks were supplied to Sokoto and BirinKebbi metropolis.
Makera said the remaining 108 trucks were delivered at various parts of the two states.
He noted that three surveillance teams, two for Sokoto and one for Kebbi, were deployed to monitor proper fuel dispensing according to regulated price.
Makera, however, said that a service stationed in Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto state was sealed off by DPR team for under dispensing fuel to customers.
The Zonal Operation Controller said the service station would remain closed until the owner complied with penalty.
Makera said that the surveillance operation was ongoing; adding that part of measures to ensure adequate availability of fuel sold at regulated price and to caution customers against panic buying.
He said the teams had so far monitored 384 service stations in the two states to ensure proper dispensing at regulated price between N140 to N145 per litre.
Makera said government would ensure proper supply of fuel to prevent recurring shortage sometime experienced in many states during December.
