In the spirit of the Valentine’s Day celebration, an Information Technology firm, Chert System Solutions, has donated computers and stationery worth millions of naira to Ilupeju Nursery and Primary School in Lagos.
TBI Africa said that the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the firm deals in the installation, sales and service of equipment, and internet of things (IOT).
The Managing Director of the firm, Mr Dayo Ande, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Thursday that the organisation took it as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) to give back to the society.
Ande said that he was happy to render his little assistance to the school and touch lives because it was the season of love.
“We decided to come back to the grassroots to give back to the society. It is the least we can do because these pupils need to be exposed to ICT at an early age.”
Ande urged the school authority not to abandon the computer room but to utilise it to the fullest.
“I’m pleading with the management not to close this room or leave it to rot away.
“Information technology is the future, so this room should be left open for the children to practice with the equipment donated.
“More room should also be created for science laboratories and we will definitely do more for the school if we see an improvement in their IT knowledge.
“We will train the teachers and support them with how to handle the equipment so that they can in turn train the pupils.
“It’s a process called Train-the-Trainer,’’ Ande said.
The Head Teacher of the school, Mrs E.A. Omolaye, said that she was more than happy that her school was a partaker of the kind gesture.
“It is a thing of joy to know that out of the numerous primary schools around, our school was chosen.
“Before now, we would transport the pupils to an equipped school just to train them.
“I’m glad that the pupils now have a computer room and can work in the comfort of their environment.”
She added that with the help of Chert officials, continuous training would be given to the pupils.
At the event, the Chief Technology Officer of the firm, Feyi Ogunkunle, said that the firm was interested in adding value and providing their services to interested organisations.
He said that this would help to close the huge gap between individuals and technology.
“We’ve been providing our services to firms, banks and other organisations.
“For now, most primary schools are not exposed to technical items and our aim is to expose them one at a time.
“That’s why we’ve decided to contribute our own quota just to close that gap,” Feyi said.
