Ethiopian Airline Crash: Minister condoles families of victims

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, has condoled the families of Nigerians and others who lost their lives in  the Ethiopian Airlines 320 that crashed on Sunday morning.

TBI Africa said Onyeama said this in his twitter account @GeoffreyOnyeama,  accessed by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)  on Sunday in Abuja.

”Sincere condolences to the loved ones of the crew and passengers on #EthiopianAirlines 302. I57 valuable lives lost including a Nigerian,” he said.

An Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 crashed Sunday morning en route Addis Ababa to Nairobi with 149 passengers and eight crew on board.

Meanwhile, management of the airline has confirmed that Amb. Abiodun Bashua was one of Nigerian passengers on board.

Bashua,  a retired ambassador was on contract with United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).

”He was the former UN and AU Deputy Joint Special Representative in Darfur, Sudan. A complete gentleman. May God rest his soul, ” the airline said in a message.

It also confirmed  that another Nigerian, Prof. Pius Adesanmi, who used his Canadian passport was on board of the ill-fated aircraft.

“We hereby confirm that our scheduled flight ET 302 from Addis Ababa to Nairobi was involved in an accident today,” it said.
