Mr Emeka Udeze, President of Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA), has promised to provide enabling environment for participants at the forthcoming 30th Enugu International Trade Fair.
The Fair is slated to commence on April 5 and end April 15 with the theme: “ Promoting and Enhancing Value in Addition in the Oil and Non-Oil Sector for Robust Economic Growth And Development.’’
TBI Africa said the President gave the assurance when the officials of ECCIMA visited the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday in Abuja.
Udeze was represented by the Vice President of ECCIMA, Dr Emma Nwankpa.
Udeze said the chamber had upgraded its facilities in the trade fair complex to promote friendly business environment.
He said that ECCIMA had a more robust online platform for registration of participants in order to eliminate middle men interference.
“We have deepened the use of social media as a marketing mix to reinforce our conventional media publicity and outreach in promoting the fair.
“We are going to focus on boosting technological advancement by encouraging participation of researchers, innovators and creative thinkers as nexus towards commercialisation of research findings including robust indulgence in the digital space.
“The fair will also get more credence and attention towards boosting the agriculture sector.
“ It will boost the sector, particularly commercial farming, for much needed job creation and food security with the attendant linkages and value chain benefits through processing of raw materials and agro allied industries.
“The aim is to further propel the development of the Small and Medium Enterprises, which is key to our national development,’’ the president said.
According to him, Enugu State remains a very peaceful landscape and has not experienced any security issue for the past 30 years while hosting the fair.
In his response, Onanuga assured ECCIMA of robust coverage of the trade fair by the agency.
He, however, commended the chamber for its contribution to promoting trade and investment in the country.
“You have gone a long way in this past 30 years and we will continue to partner with you to publicise your activities,’’ the managing director said.
