Monarchs call for more collaboration between military, civil populace to deepen national security

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, says has called for more cordial relationship and collaboration between civil populace and the military to deepen national security.

The Royal father disclosed this at a two day National workshop on Civil/ Military Relations and the Media in Contemporary Polity, on Thursday in Kaduna.

Emir Sanusi, who was represented by Alhaji Abbas Dalhatu, said the workshop was a continuation of the pursuit of peaceful and harmonious coexistence between the armed forces and other Nigerians, as the military strives to ensure peace in the country.

He said the media must help in pushing forward positive perceptions of the military especially as they confront insurgency and other security challenges across the country.

He noted that by projecting the military positively, the media would help to boost the morale of officers and soldiers fighting insurgency.

Sanusi commended the Defence Ministry for its tireless efforts in creating platforms for rubbing minds among stakeholders in the pursuit of peace.

On his part, the Chief of Kagoro, Mr Ufuwai Bonet, noted that the workshop was timely and said all hands must be on deck to conquer the security challenges facing the nation.

The Chief of Kagoro, who was represented at the event by Mr. Luka Zamani, urged the media and the security agencies to create synergy in security and information management.

The royal father implored all security agencies and the media to see themselves as partners in progress playing complimentary roles for the survival and progress of Nigeria.

Also, the Etsu Nupe, Dr Yahaya Abubakar advocated for more mutual relationship between the military and civil populace to ensure stability in the country.

The royal father, who was represented by Major Gen. M.I Gana (Rtd), expressed appreciation for being part of the event and contributing to issues of national development

He said for any society to make useful progress in terms of provision of security, there must be good relationship between the civil populace and security agencies.==NAN
