Ramadan : JNI tasks preachers to refrain from provocative sermons in Kogi

Jama’atul Nasril Islam ( JNI) has urged Islamic preachers to refrain from provocative statements  and character assassination in their sermons during the forthcoming  Ramadan fast.

Alhaji Usman Bello, the Chairman of the Kogi State chapter of the JNI, made the call on Friday in Lokoja while addressing Imams on the approved guidelines on Islamic preaching in the state.

Bello said that they should  avoid hate speech or indecent language in their sermons, adding that disregard for the guidelines by any of them would attract appropriate sanctions.

“ We must preach to build and not preach to destroy,” he said.

The Chairman also reminded them of the need to pray fervently for the country’s leaders from the federal to the local government level during the period.

“Use the period to pray Allah to continue to guide, protect and support our leaders at all levels for peace, unity and development .

“Let us continue to pray fervently for peaceful Kogi State governorship election taking place in November, 2019,” he advised them.

Bello also called on Muslims to remember workers who had been without salaries for many  months and offer  the necessary succour.===NAN
