Andrew Odoh, ranked Nigeria’s No 1 golfer by Professional Golfers Association (PGA), has described as “painful” losing the play off at the finals of the 10th edition Open International De Golf Du Cameroun.
TBI Africa.com said Odoh expressed his feelings in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Monday.
The PGA player lost by a whisker to Gift Willy in a play-off.
Odoh won the 2014, 2015 and 2018 edition of the tournament; he was gunning at the fourth title.
“It’s all good but then you win some, you lose some; do I wish it was different, of course I do but then the certain things are beyond ones control.
“Truth is play-offs are tricky, at that point, you know it can swing either way, so it could have been either of us, naturally we both loved to win.
“We can only have one winner, so next year I’d redeem myself; look on the bright side, the winner is Nigerian too, so it’s a win win,’’ he said.
NAN reports that the 10th edition Open International De Golf Du Cameroun teed-off May 9 to May 11.
Gift Will is currently ranked number two in the country.
