Residents appeal for repair of Epe-Ibeju

Residents of Epe/Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State have appealed to the state government for urgent repair of Ibeju Lekki-Epe road to ease the untold hardship currently experienced by the residents.

Besides, the residents told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday that the array of trucks parked on the road had made motoring difficult.

A resident, Mrs Alade Raji, told NAN that the trucks parked on the road on daily basis had become worrisome because of its discomfort to the people.

Mr Gbenga Sadiku, a commercial bus driver, said whenever a truck broke down on the road it immediately causes heavy traffic.

“The journey of 45 minutes at times lingers up to two hours due to the broken down truck.

“The daily occurrence has reduced our revenue because instead of plying the route seven times per day, one may end up doing only four trips.

“We beg the state government to urgently repair the road,” he said.

Mr Tony Ehidiamen, the Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Epe Unit, said the unit was aware of the situation.

Ehidiamen said the unit officers would continue to do their best to ensure smooth vehicular movement on the road.===NAN
