New FAAN MD pledges to enhance airport operations

Mr Rabiu Yadudu, the newly appointed Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has pledged to enhance airport operations to be at per with the rest of the world.

Yadudu made the pledge in an interview with newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday.

The Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika has on Monday, announced the removal of erstwhile managing director, Mr Saleh Dunoma, and appointed Yadudu as the FAAN’s helmsman.

Yadudu said that his primary vision for the authority was to promote aviation Nigeria’s sector in terms of performance and functionality.

He said the effort would involve improvement in personnel capacity, facilities, structures, procedures and processes and all aspect of airport operations and management.

FAAN boss said that FAAN would ensure that Port Harcourt and Kano airports got their certifications before the end of the year.

“Enugu has additional issues, but we shall also be able to conclude Enugu sometimes within next year.

“We are going to keep on working on that until we are sure that we have achieved what we set out to achieve.

“We have plans to resolve the issues of power in Lagos and other airports.

“First, we have to see that airports are not identical. We have similar problems in Lagos,Kaduna and Port Harcourt.

“It might take some adjustments and changes on how you address them.

“The problems are there but the nature and scope are not necessarily the same,” he said.==N AN
