Ogun Traffic Agency deploys officers for Eid-el-Kabir, Ojude-Oba Festivals

The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) says it has deployed its officers to manage traffic on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway before, during and after the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The Chief Executive Officer of TRACE, Commander Olaseni Ogunyemi made this known on Thursday in Abeokuta.

Ogunyemi said the measure was aimed at ensuring the free flow of traffic across the state in view of the forthcoming major events.

According to him, the events are the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir and the Ojude-Oba Festivals as well as the ongoing convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) scheduled to end on Sunday.

He said that the step would guarantee effective traffic management in all the nooks and crannies of the state, especially at diversion points where road construction and rehabilitation were ongoing on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Ogunyemi urged TRACE operatives to be diligent at their various beats, particularly on Lagos-Ibadan, Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode, Benin-Ore, Abeokuta-Ewekoro, Ifo-Ijoko, Sango-Ota-Lagos Highways, among others.

“In view of the anticipated increased traffic flow during this period, motorists should avoid overtaking within the aforementioned roads to prevent possible collision with vehicles travelling at opposite direction.

“TRACE personnel and their patrol vehicles will be working with other sister agencies to monitor and enforce compliance of traffic laws on the roads,” he said.

Ogunyemi implored motorists and other road users to ensure strict compliance with traffic rules.

He warned that vehicles impounded for contravening traffic rules during the celebrations would not be released until the agency terminated the Eid-el-Kabir patrol operations.
