LASU enjoying relative peace – Mgt.

Lagos State University (LASU) has said that relative peace is currently being enjoyed in its campuses, contrary to reports by a group of people about a purported ‘perennial crisis’ in the institution.

The university, in a statement issued by its Spokesman, Mr Ademola Adekoya, on Friday in Lagos, said that the university had never been more peaceful than it currently was.

“It is a verifiable fact that the university has not had any downtime occasioned by internal crisis since the inception of the Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun-led administration four years ago.

“Academic and social activities have been going on seamlessly; the first semester is successfully being concluded, with the students writing their examinations,” he said.

Adekoya said that the university management was aware of the fact that those behind the spurious claims were its erstwhile staffers who had long been dismissed for various misconducts, and their sympathisers.

He said: “One wonders why they are doing this, rather than allow for the legal resolution of their dismissal, as the case is still in court.

“They are resorting to self-help by attempting to arm-twist the university authorities and the state government into doing their unpopular and selfish bidding, to the negation of extant rule of law and due process.

According to Adekoya, the university’s Governing Council and management will continue to adhere to the principle of fairness, due process and rule of law in conducting the affairs of the institution.
