Aviation ministry to strengthen PPP to improve service delivery

The Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, has said that the ministry would strengthen its Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) policy so as to advance the aviation sector and boost service delivery.

Hadi made this known on Thursday in Abuja during a Consultative meeting with Airlines Operators of Nigeria (AON).

According to the minister, the PPP drive will create jobs and improve services.

“ The ministry will carefully implement its prepared road-map in that line. The policy of the ministry will remain PPP that is safe and secure,” he said.

According to him, the aviation ministry is the second fastest growing industry in the country with an increase of 12.1 per cent over the last quarter.

He said that the growth in the sector would immensely improve the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the nation, and promised to address the challenges confronting the AON.

Earlier, AON President, Capt. Nogie Meggison, had commended Hadi’s efforts toward an improved aviation sector, saying that the association would work to sustain the policies of the ministry.

He appealed to the minister to support efforts by the airlines to take the sector to the next level, and urged the minister to address insurance challenges that were affecting the body.

Meggison also called for a General Aviation Terminal in Lagos to boost aviation services.
