NBS commits to promoting peace, development issues

Alhaji Yusuf Musa, the General Manager, Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS), has assured that the station would continue to promote peace and developmental issues.

He also assured members of the state House of Assembly of adequate coverage of their activities and other events geared towards promoting unity and progress of the state.
Musa, who is also a member of the Board of Directors gave the assurance on Monday when the state House of Assembly Committee on Information paid an oversight visit to the station in Lafia.
He said that the station was established in order to publicise government and other activities in the interest of national development, hence the need of his determination to promote that.
“I want to commend you for the visit and to assure you of my readiness to ensure that the aim of establishing the station is achieved.
“The station has been digitalised and it has wider coverage within and outside the state.
“I want to assure you of my determination to give the government, members of the House, your activities and other activities across the state adequate coverage in the interest of development,” he said.
The general manager however solicited for the funding to acquire Outside Broadcast (OB) Van and operational vehicles to ensure effective dissemination of information to members of the public.
He also urged the support of the legislature in providing the station with modern broadcast equipment and improved welfare for members of staff of NBS to achieve maximum productivity and enhanced service delivery.
Earlier, Alhaji Mohammed Omadefu, the Chairman of the Committee, said that the visit was not to witch hunt anybody but to assess the budget performance of the station for the 2019 fiscal year.
“This visit is to assess the budget performance of your station and also to know your challenges, if any, so as to proffer solutions.
“We are ready to assist the station overcome its challenges in the interest of the state,” he said.
