DPR seals illegal Petroleum trans-loading sites in Kano

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), has sealed off five sites for alleged illegal trans-loading and processing of petroleum products in Kano on Wednesday.

The Operations Controller of the Department in charge of Kano and Jigawa, Alhaji Musa Tambawal, while addressing newsmen shortly after the operation expressed dismay at the existence of such sites.
He said that the department uncovered the sites as an outcome of a joint operation with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kano and this led a surveillance team to the sites.
Tambawal disclosed that the unknown sites were found to be processing some kind of hard petroleum products without license and proper permit.
According to him, “From what we have seen, the operators of the sites have been operating and processing unknown products without license from relevant bodies.”
”The sites are located at Hotoro quarters in Nassarawa, Larabar Abasawa and Tsamiya Babba in Gezawa local government and Hadija road in Nassawa area respectively,” he said.
Tambawal, however, called on marketers and filling station operators to desist from illegal activities in the state.
