Arik Air donates relief items to IDPs in Benin

Arik Air has donated some relief items to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camp, Uhogua, Benin City, Edo to ensure the displaced people enjoyed the Yuletide

Mr Andrew Odion, Head of Marketing, Central and West Africa, Arik Air, said in a statement on Monday in Lagos, said this was part of the airline’s show of life giving back to the less privileged in the society.

Odion said that the initiative was part of Arik’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

He said that the Airline’s Benin Station Manager, Nwaorgu Obed, presented the various items ranging from  foodstuffs, beverages, cartons of noodles, bedding, treated mosquito nets, clothing amongst others.

“Arik Air is committed to community development and we identify with the significance of this season, which is a period to share love, gifts and affection.”

The camp coordinators, Pastor Solomon Folorunsho and Pastor Evelyn Omigie received the items on behalf of the camp.

In his remarks, Folorunsho expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the airline.

He noted that the supports they needed from other quarters have not been forthcoming as expected.

“We are grateful to Arik Air; this was really a welcome development. We hope that other organisations and individuals will emulate the airline in giving back to the society,” he said.

On her part, Omigie said, “Although we have so many people to cater for, but what Arik Air has brought will go a long way to provide succour to the people in the camp.

“We will judiciously use these items to cater for the people in the Camp especially in this Yuletide.”
