NIS restates commitment to service delivery

The Comptroller General (CG) of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mr Muhammad Babandede has reiterated commitment to better service delivery to ensure effective discharge of its mandate.

Babandede stated this while presenting a paper titled “NIS Today and Prospects for the Future,” at the 2020 breakfast meeting of the Nigeria-South Africa Chamber of Commerce on Thursday in Lagos.

Represented by KunleOsisanya, the Comptroller in charge of Visa Policy, the CG said the service aspires to protect national image and territorial integrity.

Babandede noted that the service established 56-years ago has undergone a lot of transformation ranging from leadership; follower-ship, infrastructure, operational and administrative culminating in the current and future of the service.

“The NIS is statutorily established to carry out tasks such as migration control and Border Security Management which sum up the totality of its administration and operation

“It is a known fact that goods can only move with human being and across border of nations, until you have a valid passport with visa valid for entry into certain countries and no visa for those with which Nigeria has visa abolition.

“There is no way an individual can travel without visa or passport unless there is agreement on that ground between the two Countries,” he said.

Babandede added that the service is committed to manage and control regular migration abroad, saying that maintaining a balanced ease of international travel, business and national security remained a priority.
