Mob Set 2 Dangote Trucks Ablaze In Ota, After Killing 7 People

An angry mob on Saturday set 2 Dangote trucks ablaze, at Tollgate Ota, after a multiple accident, chanting, “No more Dangote cement trucks in Ogun”.

The TBI Africa garthered that this happened following a multiple accident that caused by one of the trucks with Reg. No. GN 5374-26 Dangote truck which trapped 14 passengers when it crushed the commercial bus at Toll gate, Ota.

The mob which had earlier assisted TRACE operatives led by the Area Commander,  Ajibade Adekunle, FRSC operatives led by the Unit Commander,  Akeem Ganiyu and the police in the rescue of trapped victims of the accident got mad when an empty Dangote truck was brought to transload cement from the accident truck.

According to an eye witness, arrival of the empty Dangote truck which coincided the removal of a woman and her three children in the same identical party dress, all dead, infuriated the mob who started throwing stones and later set the two trucks ablaze.

An unofficial report claimed that no fewer than 7 people, including children  trapped in the accident have been taken  to the mortuary in Ifo, while 8 critically  injured victims were rushed to the general hospital,  Ota for treatment.

The multiple accident was said to have occurred when the Dangote Cement truck, coming from Sango and descending the sloppy axis of tollgate to link Lagos, developed break failure and  pummelled the 14 – seater commercial bus in front of it against a white Toyota Jeep which in turn crushed another vehicle in front of it.

The rescue team of TRACE, FRSC, and police immediately hired a towing crane to first lift the Dangote truck before evacuating the victims some of who were already dead and others critically injured.

Meanwhile, fire fighters have arrived the scene, trying to stamp out the fire of the burnt trucks as police, TRACE, FRSC operatives assisted in doing the needful.

The accident brought the Olota of Ota, Kabiyesi Kabiru Obalanlege to the scene, security agencies.

The TRACE Area Commander,  Ajibade Adekunle, confirming the story said 7 passengers, (3 children, 3 women and 1 man), trapped in the yellow commercial bus with Reg. No. 128 XP, haven been confirmed dead. He said 8 others have been taken to the hospital in Ota.

The TRACE AREA Commander gave other vehicles particulars involved in the accident as: A white Toyota Sienna with Reg. No.APP 122 CD, and Yellow bus LSR 128 XP.
