Alhaji Suleiman Yakubu, National Public Relations Officer of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) says the association is not part of any strike action going on in Kano State.
Yakubu stated this in Abuja on Tuesday that government policy on border closure was for the betterment of the country and would not go against it.
“We have to understand and support the government, because a policy that concerns the security and lives of Nigerians must be embraced,” he said.
Yakubu said that closure of the border was because of certain things that were going wrong.
He explained that smuggling of petroleum products, arms and ammunition were part of the reasons the government closed the borders.
He stated that if this measure was not put in place, farmers and agriculture sector would be relegated.
“ We want to assure the government and the general public of Kano that the National President of IPMAN, Elder Chinedu Okoronkwo has disassociated himself from the ongoing strike in Kano.
“We are calling on all esteemed marketers to go on with their normal businesses and make sure they open their filling stations for people to buy,” he said.
Yakubu also added that the border closure was a blessing as the nation had realised its potential in agriculture.
