Immigration arrests 3 Togolese nationals in Oyo over alleged illegal entry

Three Togolese nationals were on Wednesday  arrested at their residence in Iseyin by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Oyo State Command, over alleged illegal entry into Nigeria  in spite of border closure.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Olufemi Olatunji, made the disclosure on Wednesday in Ibadan.

He said that the suspects arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday and did not pass through Oyo State border, but through Ilesha Baruba in Kwara, and  arrived at their residence in Iseyin.

“Officers got a tipoff and went to their residence, in conjunction with health officers  on COVID-19  and the chairman of Iseyin LGA.

“They met the three of them at their residence, and the health officers  did  elementary test of COVID-19 on them and they were negative,” Olatunji said.

He said that the suspects had been handed over to the Oyo State  COVID-19 Team  in Iseyin.

The suspects were farm labourer and had gone to Cotonou in the Republic of Benin in January.
