Nigeria records 338 new coronavirus cases

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Sunday confirmed 338 new cases of coronvirus across the country.

NCDC announced 177 new coronavirus cases in Lagos, 64 in Kano and 21 in Nigeria’s capital city Abuja.

Rivers State also had new 16 cases of the virus, Plateau State has 14 new cases while Oyo State reported 11 new cases.

In Katsina, nine new coronavirus cases were confirmed while Jigawa and Kaduna had four new cases.

Abia, Bauchi, and Borno had three new cases each while Gombe, Delta and Akwa Ibom had two cases each.

NCDC confirmed one case each for Ondo, Kebbi and Sokoto states.

A total of 5959 cases have now been recorded in 34 states and the FCT.

The number of recoveries is now 1594, while Nigeria has recorded 182 deaths.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to address the country on Monday following the end of the first phase of the gradual easing of the COVID-19 lockdown.

The president was given a situation report on COVID-19 by Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) and chairman of the PTF, on Sunday.
