AIB Nigeria, NAF sign MOU on groundbreaking development

The Accident Investigation Bureau Nigeria (AIB-N), in line with its inter-agency collaboration agenda, had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on groundbreaking development in the industry.

Mr Akin Olateru, the Bureau’s Commissioner, made this known in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.

Olateru said that their duty, as Accident Investigators of Civil Aviation, was one thing, but understanding one’s needs was very critical to the success of an institution.

He said that there were numerous benefits to respective agencies involved, and to Nigeria as a whole.

The commissioner said it was actively seeking similar collaboration with the Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and Nigerian Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Olateru said that the agenda was hinged on the importance of mutual knowledge exchange, human capacity development and shared resources in the pursuit of excellence in service delivery.

He said: “This groundbreaking development, the first of its kind in the history of AIB Nigeria, occurred barely a week after the courtesy visit of the Air Force Commandant to the Bureau’s Head Office in Abuja.

“The bureau, under this current administration, is focussed on engendering relationships, which enables excellence and enduring world-class standards in the investigation and prevention of Air Accidents in Nigeria.”
