Entrepreneur seeks tax relief for local firms

The Executive Chairman of Lee Engineering Company, Warri, Delta State, Dr Leemon Ikpea, has urged the Federal Government to grant import waiver and tax relief for indigenous fabrication companies to enable them to continue to support the government in job creation and boosting the economy.

According to a statement, Ikpea said this on Friday in his welcome address during a tour of the company’s fabrication plant in Warri by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva.

Ikpea said the importance the firm placed on Nigeria informed its decisions to continue to invest in it despite the devastating effects of COVID-19.

The entrepreneur argued that the company and other indigenous firms that had supported the government over the years in the areas of job creation deserved support in the forms of “tax relief” and “import duties” on imported materials for fabrication.
