LG polls: Lagos PDP receives intending defectors from AD, ADC—- Chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State on Saturday said that it had received intending defectors from the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the July 24 Local Government election in the state.

Lagos PDP Chairman, Adedeji Doherty, told newsmen in Lagos that the party had met with some stakeholders of the AD and ADC, who had revealed their intention to defect to the main opposition party.

Doherty said that the former Lagos State Chairman of ADC, Chief Tunde Daramola led some of the members of the party to his office on Friday to show their resolve to join the PDP.

He said: “To the glory of God, some critical stakeholders and state exco members of the ADC visited me to present their intention to join our dear party immediately.

“This will definitely boost our membership drive all over the 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs in Lagos State. This is another mass movement of members into our party.”

Daramola was the Chairman of Conference of United Political Parties (CUPP) in Lagos state during the 2019 General Election.

The chairman, who congratulated the PDP and all the new members from ADC, described the mass movement into the main opposition party as a good omen.

According to him, the party has also received some members and stakeholders of Alliance for Democracy, who had also shown intention to cross over to PDP.

Doherty said that the main opposition party would not leave any stone unturned in its preparations for good outing in the forthcoming election.

He said that party was open to all lovers of democracy, who were passionate to rescue the suffering masses.

According to him, the PDP is moving and every lover of the masses are encouraged to join the moving train.

LASIEC rolled out timetable and guidelines to political parties for the conduct of the election in the state.

The PDP has released guidelines for aspirants contesting on its platform for Chairmanship, Vice Chairmanship and Councillorship positions in forthcoming poll.
