I felt dizzy in Villa, back to work, EFCC chairman says

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, on Thursday dismissed fears over the state of his health.

Bawa had collapsed during an official function at the Aso Rock Villa earlier in the the day.

The EFCC boss said these while responding to questions about the incident.

He spoke on a Channels Television Political Programme, Politics Today.

Bawa said, “As you are aware, today is the 16th of September and it is the National Identity Day.

“I was invited for a programme by NIMC, Specifically, by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy.

“While I was giving my good will message during the programme there was a bit of dizziness on me and I had to excuse myself from the stage.

“And of course, I went straight to the hospital where the doctors confirmed to me that everything about me is okay, except for the fact that I’m a bit dehydrated and I need to take a lot of water and I went to the office to tidy up one or two things and now I’m at home.”

EFCC Chair and the politics of anti-corruption

While speaking about the activities of the EFCC under his watch, Bawa said the Commission was working round the clock to ensure a corrupt free society.

According to him, the commission was putting in place a system which would work.

He also said the commission was equally working with the Bankers Committee to fish out those who were sabotaging the new Central Bank of Nigeria policy on Foreign Exchange.

Bawa also said the commission under his watch would not engage in a media trial of suspects, noting that intelligence-based investigations would remain the watch word of the new EFCC. (www.tbiafrica.com)
