Anambra election tribunal begins sitting

*INEC ordered to allow Uba, Soludo access to materials

*Accord candidate withdraws petition

The three-man Anambra Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has commenced sitting.

It is chaired by Justice B. Mohammed, with Justice Edem Akpan and Justice O. H. Oyajimi as members.

At its inaugural sitting at the state judiciary complex on Thursday, the tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow the candidates to inspect the election materials.

The candidate of the Accord Party, Dr. Godwin Maduka, has withdrawn his petition against the Soludo.

Maduka’s lawyer, Mr. N.D. Agu, prayed the tribunal to strike out the matter because his client was no longer interested in the petition.

Agu submitted that though he duly filed the petition, none of the respondents was served.
