Windstorm destroys N2.3bn properties in Katsina – Masari

Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State has said the recent windstorm experienced in some parts of the state has destroyed properties worth N2.3 billion.

Masari made the disclosure on Friday in Katsina when President MuhammaduBuhari visited the state to commiserate with the victims of windstorm disaster.

He said the disaster destroyed houses at Army barrack, Nigeria Air Fource, police barrack and structures in many local government areas of the state.

Masari said most of the victims were now taking refuge in public schools across the state.According to him, the disaster also destroyed roofings in some schools estimated at over N200 million.

He urged the victims to consider the disaster as something destined by the Almighty Allah.

The governor said the government would continue to assist the victims to enable them rehabilitate their houses.
