President Xi urges Arab States to jointly fight against extremism on internet

Chinese President Xi Jinping called on the Arab countries Tuesday to jointly promote the ideals of peace and justice and fight together against extremism and incitement to hatred on the Internet.

Xi made the call at the opening ceremony of the eighth ministerial meeting of China-Arab States Cooperation Forum in Beijing.

“It is extremely important to work together on the establishment of a healthy cyberenvironment and cyberculture, to counter jointly the dissemination of extremist content and aggressive statements inciting hatred on the Internet,” Xi said.

The Chinese president stressed that China and the Arab states should learn about each other and promote mutual acceptance as civilizations can prosper by means of constant interaction with each other.

Xi emphasised that the Chinese and the Arab civilizations shared a long history of mutual support, adding that today they had even more reasons to learn wisdom from each other.

“We should spread together the message and idea of peace, harmony and justice, the maintenance of an intercivilisational dialogue between China and the Arab states and the joints efforts to eradicate extremism might be one of the ways to achieve that,” Xi stressed.

Xi underlined the necessity to overcome the existing misunderstandings through a dialogue, to resolve differences based on tolerance and to create an environment in which good deeds and sincerity prevail.
