The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), has stressed the need for regular training and retraining of young engineers to ensure effective service delivery in the engineering profession..
The Chairman of NSE in the state, Mr Rabi’iu Haruna said this on the sideline of a capacity building workshop.
The workshop was organised for electrical engineering students of Bayero University, Kano on Wednesday.
He said NSE was committed to ensuring that young engineers were given regular training and retraining in order to enhance their proficiency.
TBI Africa reports that the students were trained on Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, 2G Network and Evolution of GSM Network, among others.
Rabiu said the aim of the workshop was to acquaint the future engineers on necessary requisite of modern techniques to make them self-reliant even after graduation.
The NSE boss assured that the association would sustain the training at periodic intervals in various institutions across the nation with a view to developing professionalism in engineering.
Haruna further explained that plans were ongoing by the membership department of NSE residing in Abuja that soon, hundred per cent of the professional examinations set by the society would be conducted online.
According to him, preparations have been completed on the induction and swearing in of 50 newly qualified engineers who have passed the professional examinations.
He said during the induction, the affected engineers would be presented with certificates of merits.
