Trump bashes ex-aide who secretly recorded in White House

By Aliyu DANLADI

U.S. President Donald Trump lashed out on Monday at Omarosa Manigault-Newman, a former aide who published recordings over the weekend made in sensitive and supposedly secure parts of the White House, including of her being fired.

“She begged me for a job, tears in her eyes, I said Ok. People in the White House hated her.

“She was vicious, but not smart,” Trump tweeted, saying this was the “last time” he would fire her.

The former aide, who Trump called “Wacky,” became well known through her appearances on “The Apprentice,” the reality TV show hosted by Trump, and its spin-offs.

“She got fired numerous times on those shows but was a love-to-hate character.

Trump claimed she was “Nasty to people & would constantly miss meetings & work” when at the White House and chief-of-staff John Kelly called her a “loser” and tried to fire her.

“I told him to try working it out, if possible, because she only said GREAT things about me – until she got fired!”

She became a White House aide and was in part responsible for trying to smooth over Trump’s image with African-Americans, who are under-represented in the administration.

Manigault-Newman had her first major job in politics in the office of former vice president Al Gore, who also removed her from his administration in the late 1990s.

She is currently promoting a book about her time in the White House, which takes aim at the president.

The White House and Republican Party are now bashing her credibility but this only raised questions about why Manigault-Newman was hired in the first place.

The security breach inside the White House has also raised eyebrows and could land Manigault-Newman in legal trouble.
